History

1971:
KSW TruckJim Kenney, Syl Severson and Bob Weller had a mutual desire to form their own company after working together at Urban Heating in Owatonna. The initials in their last names formed the now familiar KSW that has grown into a major force in home and commercial comfort over the past four plus decades. Originally, KSW started out as a roofing and sheet metal company. Then later went into the servicing furnaces when roofing jobs became scarce. Eventually Jim Kenney became the sole owner and has continued the KSW tradition as a family owned business.

1972:
KSW becomes an authorized dealer for Lennox products and goes on to win multiple awards for customer satisfaction and sales leadership over the next forty years. In 2005 KSW is awarded the prestigious Lennox “Premier Dealer” designation for providing outstanding customer service and enjoys a customer satisfaction rating of over 95% based on independent survey results from KSW customers.

1980’s:
KSW becomes a Versico EPDM commercial roofing installer and a Firestone Building Products metal roofing contractor.

 

 

1989:
KSW BuildingKSW outgrows their original Owatonna location and relocates to a newly built facility at 2800 Park Drive. Capabilities are expanded to include Geothermal and indoor air quality products. During the next two decades KSW also becomes a major provider of commercial heating and cooling products to local business owners including Viracon, Federated Insurance and Mills Fleet Farm.

 

1996:
Celebrating 25 years serving the Owatonna Area.

2006:
Jim Kenney retirensand ownership of KSW is passed to his son Mark. Mark Kenney grew up in the company and shares Jim’s passion for providing home and commercial comfort to friends and neighbors throughout southern Minnesota. Jim remains active in the community as a volunteer for several civic organizations.

2012-14:
KSW launches the “Heat Up Minnesota” campaign in Steele county to provide a home heating system installed at no charge for a family in need. To learn more visit HeatUpMinnesota.org.
